Fear
Challenges on the path of self-exploration
Self-knowledge transforms us. And every transformation brings challenges.
They aren’t always visible at first. Sometimes they appear as doubts, or as tiredness, or as a feeling of not quite knowing what to do or where to go.
Other times they feel more intense and we recognize them more easily: attachment to the familiar, fear of making mistakes, insecurity about who we will be without what came before; fear of being alone, resistance to letting go of our social roles.
If we look more closely, all these challenges have a common root: fear.
Fear appears when something inside us begins to change. When the identity we held begins to disintegrate and we no longer fit into the roles we once assumed. The masks begin to fall away.
And then comes the vertigo.
That space between what you were… and what you are beginning to be.
An uncertain, unstable, chaotic, empty place. And how wonderful! Because that emptiness is, in fact, a vast space for creation. It is there that life begins to reorganize itself within us. From chaos to co-creation.
We often think that fear is overcome “by force.” By compelling ourselves to do what we fear. To take the plunge now. To rush into making decisions. To push our processes so that “something” happens, so that everything changes “right now.”
But there is another way to do it, more fluid and in harmony with life, with its rhythms, with its cycles.
More than rushing, we first want to “see the fear,” to “feel the fear.” To recognize it and bring it into conscious awareness. Because when we truly look at it, we discover something deeper. Behind the fear, there is a greater and more silent wound: the lack of love.
“I’m not enough.
I don’t know enough.
I don’t do it well enough.
No one will love me like this.”
And from there, from that lack of love, from that vertigo, from that fear, we try to hold onto our identities, our relationships, our jobs, our paths, our entire lives.
When we don’t love ourselves, we cling. To things, people, situations.
When we don’t love ourselves, we doubt everything. And ourselves most of all.
When we don’t love ourselves, we choose from fear. And we forget about Love.
That’s why true movement doesn’t begin with letting go. It begins with learning to recognize ourselves, love ourselves, accept ourselves, and support ourselves from a different place.
The way out of fear isn’t force. It’s love. Self-love.
A love that doesn’t depend on doing it perfectly.
Or on being perfect.
Or on having it all figured out.
Or on knowing everything.
Or on fitting in.
Or on pleasing everyone.
A love that allows us to be in the process without rejecting ourselves, comparing ourselves, judging ourselves, or measuring ourselves.
When we begin to look at ourselves with more respect, more honesty, more care, more admiration…something changes.
Fear doesn’t disappear overnight. But it stops directing our lives.
And then, little by little, we begin to take steps. Not from a place of demanding things, but from a place of coherence.
Every time we choose to look at ourselves with more love, even amidst chaos and fear, we are taking a step toward a more authentic, happier, more peaceful, more conscious life. And then we are closer to connecting, (re)directing ourselves, and living a life aligned with our purpose.
At this historical moment, many of us are going through this point in the reorientation process: letting go of old structures, examining who we are, redefining our lives.
Humanity is changing. And that is why community is so important.
We need sacred spaces where we can be seen without masks.
Where vulnerability is not weakness.
Where growth is not frightening.
Walking together won’t eliminate the process. But it will make it much more human, compassionate, and empathetic. We will recognize ourselves in each other’s journeys. And we will strengthen something essential: Love and Faith. Both with capital letters.
If you’re going through a period of change and feel you need to understand it better, I can support you through a reading or mentoring. I guide people on their journeys of self-discovery, helping them navigate significant life changes; people who value personal responsibility, deep reflection, consistency, sustained growth, and contributing to the community.
